Coastal Vulnerability Assessment in Son Tra – Cua Dai region

The coastal erosion due to storm surge and unsustainable urban development in the central region of Vietnam has become increasingly last decade. It requires accurate vulnerability assessments (CVI). aim this study is propose (1) a new approach classify coasts (2) selection appropriate criteria assess CVI index at regional scale. Accordingly, calculated for area Son Tra - Cua Dai based on 5 characteristic variables, 3 dynamics 4 socio-economic variables. results show that more than 15% coastline very high values, especially Hoi An. landscape with residential tourist sites near beaches without protection forests been strongly affected by erosion.
